Classroom management involves many mundane tasks: taking attendance, communicating with absent students, and so on. These duties are often undertaken in a routine way, in between the primary activities of teaching and learning in the classroom or studio. Join us as we hear from two Pratt faculty members—Dominica Giglio (HMS) and Micki Spiller (Foundation)—whose teaching practices transform these mundane classroom management tasks into meaningful and engaging activities embedded within the larger context of teaching and learning.

This reading group, starting in early March, invites faculty to engage deeply with urgent questions about the purpose and future of higher education in times of intersecting global crises through critical engagement with the book Transforming Universities in the Midst of Global Crisis: A University for the Common Good.
In this course participants will discuss and engage in physiological practices to self-regulate and improve ethical decision making for classroom facilitation. Interactive exercises will provide an opportunity for collaboration and exploration of personal challenges, offering practical tools to support growth and connection.

This workshop asks the Pratt community–including faculty, staff and students–to come together to consider how to define a transdisciplinary body literacy that meets the diverse needs of our students; future artists and designers who will take on the responsibility of representing bodies, designing for bodies, and advocating for the embodied needs of themselves and others.
