New Faculty Orientation

The Center for Teaching and Learning in collaboration with the Office of the Provost hosts a virtual New Faculty Orientation at the start of each semester. The Fall 2026 New Faculty Orientation will take place virtually on Thursday August 20th: 10-11:30am.

The virtual orientation will be devoted to introducing you to Pratt Institute overall, the supports provided to faculty and students, as well as getting to know each other better while building continuous support and connections that will help you succeed in teaching, researching and thriving at Pratt.

  • New to Canvas LMS, or need a refresher? Join us to get oriented before the semester starts. Please RSVP on zoom to join the call. If you are not able to make it to these training sessions, review the resource hub we’ve created.
  • Supporting Faculty: Want to learn more about the various offices and departments at Pratt who are here to support you? Supporting Faculty is an online, self-paced series with informative videos and contact information for many offices and departments at Pratt.
  • Pedagogy Refresh: New to teaching, or want a refresher? This self-paced online series explores pedagogical topics and concrete strategies that can be used in your classes.

We are once again holding the New Inclusive Classroom Reading Group, based on the book The New College Classroom by C.Davidson and Ch. Katopodis, accessible for free as an ebook through the Pratt Libraries! These sessions will take place online on Mondays from 2:00-3:00pm (February 2, 9, and 23).
