This page includes answers from the frequently asked questions at each semester’s New Faculty Orientation, and was updated in Spring 2026 with additional questions/answers from this semester’s NFO.

We’re excited to share a new resource compiled by the Office of the Provost with helpful links and information for faculty members! Explore this new resource.

Getting Started – ID Cards & OneKey Access

How can I get my ID card and my Pratt OneKey (log in information)?

  • For information on obtaining your Pratt ID, click here. ID cards can be picked up in the technology office in either the Brooklyn or Manhattan campus. Most buildings require ID swipe access.
  • Call the Helpdesk at 718.636.3765 for assistance with your OneKey.

What is OnePratt?

  • one.pratt.edu is your hub for all things Pratt, including Technology, Finances, Academic and course information, and much more.

Classroom & Teaching Resources

Where can I see my teaching schedule with times and room numbers?

  • To see what classroom you’re teaching in, and for your full roster and waitlist, go to one.pratt.edu, navigate to “Self-Service,” click “Faculty,” and click the name of your course. 

What technology is in my classroom? 

  • To see what technology your classroom is equipped with, search for your classroom on Coursedog. More information about Technology Enhanced Classrooms at Pratt.
  • If you’re teaching in a computer lab, we recommend emailing your lab manager and asking them to meet you there a few minutes before your first class in case you have any issues. You will be able to log into any Pratt classroom computer using your Pratt OneKey and password.
  • Reach out to the Technology Desk if you have any issues with the equipment in your classroom.
  • For other non-technology equipment and materials in your classroom, check in with your assistant chair. 

What is Canvas?

  • Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) that Pratt uses. Sign in with your Pratt OneKey.
  • Canvas is the best place to share digital materials, class information, syllabi, assignment information, files, and more with your students. Here is an overview video of Canvas.
  • For more information about Canvas, check out the Canvas resources on the CTL’s website

Should I publish my Canvas course and upload the syllabus before this coming Monday? Ideally yes, before the first day you teach! Canvas courses must be published for students to see any of the content in them.

What is Starfish?

  • Starfish is an online platform that is a student success tool designed to improve communication and workflows around student engagement and support. 
  • Faculty can use Starfish to send messages, raise concerns and alerts, ask for assistance, provide feedback and referrals, and create appointments.

What other learning technologies do we have access to?

  • Launchpad provides access to software typically found in Pratt’s computer lab via a web browser.
  • Production on one.pratt includes information about Production facilities across campus.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud is available for faculty and students.
  • We also have institutional licenses for Miro and Milanote (sign up with your Pratt email address)

What is the Institutional perspective on AI? How can AI be integrated into the art process? 

Student Support

Are there any new/specific ways the Institute is helping international students given the current political climate? Sign up for stakeholder updates from the Pratt Office of International Affairs to learn more about the evolving situation. (Reference article) 

How can I best support students with accommodations/ accessibility needs? The L/AC facilitates full access for Pratt students with disabilities. Contact: lac@pratt.edu (718.802.3123)

  • At the start of each semester, the L/AC will email the Faculty Notification Letters (FNLs) for all L/AC enrolled students. This letter includes information about the student’s needs within your classroom, and is confidential. The L/AC will then work with students and faculty as needed to implement the approved classroom accommodations, which are outlined on the FNL.

Are we able to see our student’s class schedule to better understand their workload? Not individually, but the catalog has curriculum tables by semester for all programs: https://catalog.pratt.edu/

The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) serves students and alumni for life with their career related needs. Faculty members can collaborate with the CCPD to support students in a number of ways; see this flier for more information!

Faculty Support & Community

Are there opportunities for community building and social gatherings? 

  • Many departments and Schools across campus have end-of-year gatherings for faculty. There’s additionally a winter faculty/staff holiday party hosted annually on campus.
  • Join us at the CTL on some Thursday afternoons for community building and collective creating!
  • The CTL newsletter is sent to all faculty from ctl@pratt.edu — join any of our events to meet new colleagues!
  • New part-time faculty mentorship program being rolled out – more details to come from the Provost’s Office!

Is committee participation available for visiting professors? Often yes, depending on department. Stipend guidelines available through your chair.

Do faculty members have office space to hold office hours? Your department or school should have shared office space available to part-time faculty members. Reach our to your chair for more information.

What journal access do we have? JSTOR, etc.? Is there a Library orientation?

  • Equipment Loan Library available to all faculty:

What are Pratt’s attendance and field trip policies?

  • Institute-wide attendance policies 
  • Field Trip Policy for general guidance about off-campus activities. 
  • Check with your department to learn about departmental policies for attendance.
