Resolutions: Implementing New Ideas and Practices in Teaching and Learning 🗓

Do you have ideas for how to improve your courses or your teaching, but struggle to find the time and resources to implement them? Have you been inspired by a CTL event, but lacked a clear path and support to act on that inspiration? Bring those new ideas and practices to life in the new year with the CTL and join the Spring 2025 cohort of our Resolutions program today!

Resolutions offers an opportunity for faculty to develop and put into practice ideas generated in conversation with the Center for Teaching and Learning programming. It is a cohort-based series that will address course and syllabus design and development using leading pedagogical frameworks and strategies. The CTL will provide support in the form of focused working sessions, opportunities to connect with other faculty, and an asynchronous collaboration space. Participants will also have access to pedagogical research and resources related to their interests.

To join, submit a Project Planning Sheet to this Google Form by February 9, 2026.

Have questions? Great! We are holding two Q&A sessions for the Resolutions program:

  • Q&A Session #1: Wednesday December 3, 2025, 12pm–1pm—RSVP
  • Q&A Session #2: Thursday January 29, 2026, 1pm–2pm—RSVP

$500 stipends are available for projects by eligible part-time faculty.

Testimonials from Spring 2024 Participants:

If you would recommend the Resolutions series to a friend or colleague, what would you tell them about the series?

“I would tell them it’s a great opportunity to start or complete projects that you feel will benefit your students or teaching pedagogy. It’s helpful to have a community that will hold you accountable, encourage creativity, and engage in work caves to support your project’s growth. Everyone was really supportive and I appreciated the space and freedom to work on research that was meaningful to me.”

“The Resolutions series provides a supportive community for developing your faculty project along with checkpoints to clarify your project work plan and encourage your progress. I like the combination of the multiple opportunities to meet with the CTL team and Resolutions participants throughout the semester (for people who really want to take advantage of that community aspect) and the limited minimum synchronous time commitment (just two work-oriented synchronous meetings), so that the series is manageable for people whose schedules or work styles make many meetings unappealing.”

“I would tell them that is a great opportunity to reflect on, adjust, and develop your pedagogical practices. It’s very open-ended so the project you decided to work on is very tailored to your individual needs. That being said, I think having something very concrete in mind to work on, will yield more concrete results.”

Testimonials from Spring 2025 Participants:

If you would recommend the Resolutions series to a friend or colleague, what would you tell them about the series?

You’ll have a very supportive environment to dream up and develop something new for your teaching practice! You’ll be part of a small faculty cohort that meets regularly to share ideas, experiences and resources that will enrich your project and keep the momentum going when you hit the inevitable hurdles of course or assignment design.

Resolutions is key to growing and developing your teaching content and skills. Sharing with other professors and hearing their stories is an amazing experience that is so gratifying and useful.

I believe you gain measure for measure from individual participation and the contributions made, no more no less. If you have an open mind and can engage and support different ideas, different perspectives and even agendas then I highly recommend Resolutions. You will leave with a more flexible understanding of other’s issues and maybe even your own.
