QiGong Based Mindful Movement

QiGong is an ancient Chinese movement practice that combines gentle movements, breathing techniques, and mindful focus to cultivate balance.  In addition to aiming to improve physical health, it reduces stress, improves balance, flexibility, and boosts the immune system. The practice involves low impact slow and flowing movements combined with playful visualizations and breathing that calms and energizes the body-mind.

QiGong can be particularly beneficial for care workers, including teachers of all educational levels and backgrounds. QiGong practice helps manage stress, improves focus, enhances body awareness, and promotes relaxation. These are all crucial skills for navigating the higher ed classroom.

Pratt’s CTL continuously promotes caring pedagogy and offers resources and programming to faculty in order to recognize the impact of stress on teaching and learning. QiGong Based Mindful Movement is one of those opportunities. We provide this movement practice for faculty to cultivate and maintain their physical and mental well-being so that they can best support our students.

QiGong is easy to learn and can be done by everyone, at any age and fitness level.  Our weekly online practices are welcoming of all – come to one, or join weekly as your time allows!

These sessions are led by Judit Török.
